President, 2001-2003, Dave was prominent in the early eighties when he was able to assist in attracting

recruits to the Club. He was instrumental in having the previous ground lighting constructed and together

with Tony Graham, were the prime movers in the Club moving to the G.F.L in 1992.

Charlie Williams (29-01-2102)  Club Treasurer 1959-60 and Secretary 1961-66. Charlie was instrumental in researching Club history and compiling games scores and ladders for all grades and years from information held at the Geelong Heritage Centre.

Donald Foot.   Son of first President Dick Foot (30-3-2012) Don played 40 senior games with Leopold.

Ivan Lynch.     Senior player 1957-58 (22 games). His brother Eric Lynch was senior coach in 1957.

GDFL expanding to 14 teams with a final 8. No promotion/relegation system, with any team movements based on Club application and assessment.

Daniel Lane retires after his third serious knee injury. Daniel’s career spanned  18 years from 1996

to 2013. He played 105 junior and 134 senior games. He was U15’s most determined 1997, U17’s best

and fairest 1998, U18’s Club and Umpire’s best and fairest 2000, U18’s most determined 2001,

reserve’s best and fairest 2013.

The Club mourns the passing of Tim Hay, tragically killed in a car accident on 8-12-2015. Tim was a young trainer, (2013 to 2015) assisting his father Phil Hay, our head trainer.

The Club mourns the passing of  Leonard William Lewis on 23-01-2016. Len was Secretary in 1960, President in 1961 and Treasurer in 1964. He was granted Life membership in 1965. He served on the original Committee in 1955-56 and subsequent Committees, most years from 1957 through to 1971. Our Gym is named in his honour.

 

Netball’s Under 14’s player, Cheema Davis won the Most Determined trophy in 1989. For reasons unknown she never received her award. Past President Tony Graham discovered a box of old netball records in 2015 and the trophy was amongst them. The Club Historian posted an article in The Sunday Herald Sun on 31-01-2016 and was contacted by a relative of Cheema’s. Cheema is now living in Queensland and the trophy will be forwarded to her.
