Round 6 Notes

After two away games we return to our home ground today to play Colac. We welcome Colac and its members and supporters to Memorial Park and hope that they enjoy our hospitality. Our recent history against Colac points to another close encounter.

Last week our Senior team had a very good win against Newtown and Chilwell to take our record to four wins and one loss for the season. Best players were Matt Miller, Greg Hardy and Luke Gale, although everyone continues to contribute.

This is the pleasing aspect so far this year. We have had an even spread of not only goal kickers each week but also everyone performing. It was a great way to celebrate Brad Grills’ 200 games.

The Reserves came up against the benchmark of the competition and although they were beaten, the effort was a big improvement on recent weeks. Jackson Bews, Shane Johnson and Adam Bond in game 150 were best.

The Under 18 boys had a really bad first quarter and then pretty much went with Newtown and Chilwell for the rest of the game. Best players were Daniel Zinn, Jordan Uren and Brandon McKenzie. This week we are looking to record three wins and wish all teams the best of luck.

Some really good results for our Junior Football with nearly all teams having wins last week. Our Junior section is well and truly in full swing and all players have settled into their teams for the year.

Our Junior Co-ordinators, Matt Breckon and Peta France, have done a fantastic job so far and have made sure that all things are running smoothly. On May 29t there will be a Junior Disco night at the club and there will also be a Junior Parents day late in the year. Keep an eye out for details.

Don’t forget every Thursday night there are meals at the clubrooms. It is the best $10 value in town and Sally and Robyn do a fantastic job. Thanks ladies. There will also be the Yabby Pot and of course all the team selections.

On the social scene, thanks to all who attended the Club Ball last Saturday night. It was a great night and a good time was had by all. Some events coming up include Ladies Day on June 5, “Noxy Snood” on Saturday June 12, and the Sponsors and Presidents Club Luncheon on Saturday June 19. Don’t forget the Players day on July 24. Details to follow. Thanks to the Social Committee for putting this years events in place. Well done.

We would also like to welcome a couple of new sponsors. Palladium Homes and Middletons Geelong Heating & Cooling have joined the club and we thank them for their support. To all our members, please remember to support our local sponsors.

The website is in the process of being updated so you will be able to keep in touch by using it also.

To all our teams today, Good Luck.
